Arowana Dot Com bounced back to the winner's circle with a win in the $125,000, Singapore Airlines A380 Los Angeles Stakes over 1600m on Sunday night.
The four-year-old Desmond Koh-trained runner enjoyed a good run in transit, settling sixth on the fence with Keep Away and Mr Raffles setting the early tempo.
Jockey Joao Moreira was able to bring Arowana Dot Com out three wide on the turn and then set out after the leaders with clear running. They proved too strong over the concluding stages taking the lead with 125m to run and then holding off a fast-finishing Fatkid in second with Silveron Wings in third.
The margins were 1L and 1 1/2L with the time 1.36.53 on the Yielding track.
Arowana Dot Com came into the race with mixed form having won two starts back over 1600m before dropping back in distance to run fourth behind The Comedian last start over 1400m, beaten eight lengths.
“He is a lovely horse and he tries hard. We all knew he had plenty of class within himself,” said Moreira.
“The instructions of the trainer were to go forward but we had to change the plan as the pace was too fast. Once we turned for home I just got him on the outside and gave him a clear run.
“He just sped up and he gave me a very good kick. Well done to Desmond Koh, he has done a great job with this horse.”
The Hussonet gelding, out of the Chief's Crown mare Unveil, has now won an impressive eight races from 15 career starts.
