The three year-old Flash Gift won his second straight race in Singapore with a well-timed run to the post despite running green.

Jumping quickly from barrier 10, Greg Cheyne asked Flash Gift to go to the lead but was quickly joined on his inside by That's Gold who took the race to the favourite.

With the field swinging for home, That's Gold put another length or so between himself and Flash Gift as the latter began to drift out and looked to be in a spot of trouble.

With Cheyne working hard on his mount and the grey, Anavila trapped on the rail for a run, Flash Gift began to find his best racing legs even as the early effort of That's Gold began to take its toll.

At the post, the favourite managed to get up in time ahead of Soul Commander who ran on nicely. Anavila, who could be considered a tad unlucky, was third and That's Gold ended up fourth.

“He did find this sharp and he is still very green,” said Flash Gift's trainer, John O'Hara.

“I think he's got a lot of ability and despite having a wonderful temperament, he's still very immature."

"I'm just going to let him go up through the grades rather than target him somewhere specific,” ended O'Hara as he admitted how relieved he was with the result.

Greg Cheyne was also all praise for Flash Gift and said, “In his first run he did a few things wrong and I've always said that he's a horse with a lot of potential."

"He wanted to go out and in his first run we were lucky to have a horse on his outside to stop him from doing so but not today."

"I had the wide draw but the horse on my inside was a bit quicker and mine didn't take the first turn very well."

"I came around on my outside leg and I'm just pleased that he got the job done. He's talented and he's got to learn a lot. I think he's got a bright future especially when he steps up in trip,” ended Cheyne.
