Four-year-old galloper Commander is set to quickly atone for his last defeat as he steps out in the 1300m Class 4B contest on Saturday.
He made an immediate impression with a win in a 1300m Class 5 race during his local debut on September 8, and the New Zealand-bred gelding defied the class rise with an emphatic victory over 1400m just two weeks later.
In his most recent outing, Commander seemed to have every chance, finishing 3rd behind Lim's Craft. Despite a weight increase of 3.5kg, he drops back to the "B" division of Class 4, where he should prove hard to beat this weekend.
