There were no excuses from the break in the R750,000, Group 1 Garden Province Stakes (1600m) at Greyville on Saturday as they all jumped out on level terms.
Though it failed to live up to expectations for many as Same Jurisdiction added to her previous victories with a comfortable 1L success at odds of 17/10 favourite.
Trained by Duncan Howells and ridden by the legend that is Anton Marcus, the daughter of Mambo In Seattle was always holding runner up Smart Call who looked as if she was closing as the line came, but the winner may have been idling in front, and she never really looked like being caught to be honest.
Maybe Yes managed to hold on to grab third place prize money having been up in the front rank throughout, and finished a length and a half ahead of Hammie’s Hooker with a photo needed to divide the next four home and less than half a length between them.
No hard luck stories were instantly visible with those baulked when looking for a run failing to quicken when the gaps did appear anyway, leaving the form with a more than solid look about it and the winner appears to be a pretty decent filly.
