UK: Gosden Bids For Lancashire Treble

3 minute read

Gallipot and Wannabe Loved will represent John Gosden in his quest to land a third straight bet365 Lancashire Oaks at Haydock on Saturday.

The pair will have their work cut out to follow in the example of Gertrude Bell and subsequent Irish Oaks winner Great Heavens, with Wannabe Loved landing a Goodwood handicap on her reappearance and Gallipot not yet recapturing the prolific form of last summer in a couple of outings in Listed races.

The ground is currently good to firm and Lady Cecil has not declared either of her exciting fillies Songbird and Wild Coco, with the field for the Group Two prize shrinking to eight.

Hughie Morrison is doubly represented by Coquet and by the only three-year-old in the field, Banoffee. The Cheshire Oaks winner was seventh when supplemented for Epsom and will be ridden by Kieren Fallon.

Moment In Time, who won over course and distance in the Pinnacle Stakes last time, is also in the line-up, along with Paul Deegan's remarkably consistent Irish mare Midnight Soprano, winner of the Noblesse Stakes on her reappearance.

Godolphin's Albasharah, unlucky at Royal Ascot, and Emirates Queen complete the field.
