The Tingle Creek at Sandown and the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon are the two options under consideration for God's Own.

The eight-year-old rounded off last season with successive Grade One victories at Aintree and Punchestown and made a pleasing reappearance when runner-up in the Old Roan Chase at Aintree.

God's Own had to make do with minor honours once more when third in the Stella Artois 1965 Chase at Ascot on Saturday, but trainer Tom George felt the rain-softened ground hampered his chances of success.

"He's absolutely A1 and has come out of the race well," said the Slad-based handler.

" I don't think it would have mattered whether the race was two miles, two and a half (miles), or three miles on Saturday - he just struggles on that ground.

"We'll keep on the go until December and see what the ground is like for the Tingle Creek and the Peterborough Chase.

"After that, we'll probably give him a break until the spring."

God's Own holds an entry in the King George VI Chase at Kempton, but appears unlikely to line up in the Boxing Day highlight.

"I don't think that will happen," said George.

" We are keen to try three miles with him at some stage, but we want proper good ground for that and I don't think we'll get that at Christmas time.

"I don't think he's necessarily a better horse in the spring.

"I think he's in great form now, but it's just the ground."
