Magical Memory might travel to France in search of an elusive Group One victory following his convincing success at Newbury on Saturday.

The Prix Maurice de Gheest over six and a half furlongs at Deauville on August 6 is a possible target for the Charlie Hills-trained grey, as long as the race does not come too soon after his Group Three win in the Hackwood Stakes.

"Magical Memory was brilliant. I've spoken to Charlie and I think he's probably leaning towards to France, but it's not confirmed," said Sam Hoskins, racing manager for owners Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds.

"As long as our horse is all right, I think we'd like to try him over six and a half furlongs.

"We're not worried about the opposition. We're just pleased he's coming back into form, so the Maurice de Gheest would be an interesting option.

"The only slight thing is that it would be just two weeks after Newbury. He had a hard enough race over six furlongs. We'll wait a few more days and see how he is.

"If the timing is right for Deauville then great, if not we'll wait for the Hungerford Stakes at Newbury over seven."

Contango gave Kennet Valley an across-the-card double at the weekend when taking his 100 per cent record to three in trouncing two rivals at Newmarket.

The son of Casamento only made his racecourse debut seven weeks ago but has now completed a hat-trick.

Though there are no firm plans as yet for the Andrew Balding-trained gelding, connections are hoping Contango can continue to give the syndicate plenty of enjoyment.

"The handicapper has raised him 10lb. Although he only beat two horses, he won it well and his work suggested he would go well," said Hoskins.

"Andrew feels he might be suited by a step up in trip to a mile and a half. As of yet there are no targets, but a big handicap could be on the radar.

"He's got a great attitude. Although he's won mostly on slow ground so far, he should go on safe, quick ground.

"He's a very nice horse and he could be a potential replacement for Tullius, who's getting on a bit now."
