Fozzy Stack has not yet decided whether to let Son Of Rest take his chance in the Prix de l'Abbaye at Chantilly on Sunday.
The Cashel-based trainer has never made any secret of the regard in which he holds the three-year-old, but has always felt he is at his best on an easy surface.
That theory was borne out when Son Of Rest bolted up in a premier handicap at the Curragh in June and although he disappointed at Listed level at Tipperary on his next start, he showed his true colours when third behind dual Group One winner Caravaggio in the in the Flying Five Stakes earlier this month.
As well as holding an entry in the Abbaye, the Pivotal colt is joint top-weight in Saturday's 32Red Gold Cup - the replacement for the abandoned Ayr Gold Cup - at Haydock.
Stack said: "We've left him in the Abbaye and we'll have a look at the race later in the week.
"He's also in at Haydock, so we'll see what happens.
" If he doesn't run this weekend, there's a Listed race he'll probably go for the following week.
"He's in good form."
The next forfeit stage for the Abbaye is on Wednesday at 10.30am BST.
