Clive Cox’s inmate in good order for big day
Connections of Zonderland feel he is capable of ruffling a few feathers on his first start at Royal Ascot in the Queen Anne Stakes on Tuesday week.
The Clive Cox-trained five-year-old is expected to come on for his seasonal return in last month’s Lockinge at Newbury in the mile Group One event, provided conditions are suitable.
Chris Richardson, racing manager to owners Cheveley Park Stud, said: “The plan is to go to the Queen Anne with Zonderland and Clive is very happy with him.
“He needed the race in the Lockinge. Although he had his ground in the Lockinge he is a horse that can be a bit stuffy.
“He has definitely got the ability and he hasn’t had a lot of luck in running.”
