Trainer Richard Hannon has announced that Group 1 performer Mojo Star is unlikely to race again, despite recovering from an injury sustained on seasonal reappearance at Newbury.

During his Classic campaign in 2021, Mojo Star finished second in the Group 1 Epsom Derby behind Adayar before filling the same position in the Group 1 St Leger Stakes at Doncaster. He returned after a lengthy absence to record a second in the Group 1 Ascot Gold Cup at the 2022 Royal Ascot meeting but pulled up lame after finishing fourth behind Grand Alliance in the Group 3 John Porter Stakes on seasonal reappearance.

Richard Hannon said, "He is back here now, but I would say he probably won't race again.

"He's always had issues with his joints and he's quite a heavy horse who has always had problems all his life.

"He's back home now though, although I would say he is doubtful to race again. I think he will go back to Ireland, where they will get him a job as a stallion.

"He was second in three massive races, the Derby, the Leger and in the Gold Cup. He's still here and he'll enjoy life, which is the most important thing."
