Nottingham is set to host an exciting card this Sunday, filled with potential stars of the future.
The action at Nottingham this Sunday is kicked off with the 14:15 British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes (5f), with a whole host of potential winners amongst this 2-year-old field. Whilst we know very little about most of them, pedigrees could be the best indicator for assessing who will be successful in the opener.
Nazalan is an interesting inclusion, with future entries suggesting he is a colt to keep an eye on. This son of Starspangledbanner cost £105,000 and will be hoping to get off the mark in style this Sunday.
The Richard Hannon team send the daughter of Eqtidaar, Painite, yet another 2-year-old runner for the Amo Racing team. She will be looking to repeat the feats of her sire in winning on debut here at Nottingham.
The 14:45 at Nottingham is the Class 5 Novice Stakes over 1m 1/2f. The Richard Hannon team, hoping to have a successful day at the meeting, saddle One Night Thunder in this contest. He was last seen finishing third at Goodwood, in a race won by the unbeaten Cicero's Gift. This 3000,000gns son of Night Of Thunder will be in with real contention however, if he is to show similar form to that this Sunday.
Lord Of Biscay for the Roger Varian team will pose a threat however. He was an impressive winner of his Maiden last September, and was then targeted at the very competitive Group 3 Horris Hill Stakes where he was 6th. He will be hoping to get his head back in front this Sunday, kicking off what could be an exciting season.
The highest-class action of the day at Nottingham is the Class 2 racingtv.com handicap (1m 1/2f), with the field suggesting it will indeed be a classy renewal.
The Simon and Ed Crisford team saddle Al Agaila, looking to make it four wins in a row this Sunday, with James Doyle doing the steering. This 4-year-old daughter of Lope De Vega is bred superbly well, and was last seen winning the Winter Oaks Fillies' Handicap on the All-Weather at Lingfield, looking to add yet another first to her improving formbook this weekend.
If she is to do this however, she will have to fend of the challenge of the likes of Point Lynas for the Ed Bethell team, who is having a successful start to his season, winning on his reappearance in March. He finished a close second on his third start this season in a Class 2 Handicap at York last month, meaning further improvement could be there. He is set to be partnered with Callum Rodriguez again today.
Major Partnership, the Godolphin runner is also an interesting inclusion, making his return to Britain following a customary trip to Meydan. This now 8-year-old's last start in Britain was in a Class 2 Handicap at York last July where he was 6th. He will be hoping to improve on his return run in the UK this weekend.
