The Andrew Balding-trained Coltrane was rewarded for his consistency when regaining the winning thread in the Lonsdale Cup at York last month, and connections will be hoping he can record a third success of the season having landed the Sagaro Stakes at Ascot on his seasonal reappearance.

Coltrane caused something of a shock in the contest twelve months ago when toppling the 2/9 favourite Trueshan, who will be attempting to gain revenge on the former on his first start since finishing fourth behind Coltrane in the Sagaro Stakes in May.

Alan King's proven mudlark was forced to miss the majority of the summer staying campaign with conditions in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot unsuitable.

The addition of the progressive four-year-old Sweet William adds an interesting angle to the contest as he tackles stakes company for the first time on the back of a fine second in the Ebor at York last month, while Broome and The Grand Visir complete the field of five.

Elsewhere on the card, Big Evs will be bidding to put his Nunthorpe Stakes disappointment behind him as he returns to two-year-old company in the Group 2 Carlsberg Danish Pilsner Flying Childers Stakes.

Mick Appleby's star juvenile landed the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot and the Molecomb at Goodwood on his second and third career start and will face eleven rivals on the Town Moor on Friday. Big Evs will be ridden by Tom Marquand for the first time, with Jason Hart, who has partnered the colt to both victories, booked to ride at Chester on Friday instead.

Ten have been declared for the Betfred Flying Scotsman Stakes with Aidan O'Brien's Convivial Maiden winner Battle Cry featuring alongside Andrew Balding's impressive York nursery scorer Gushing Gold.
