Aidan O’Brien’s St Leger winner and German Derby hero Fantastic Moon have both been supplemented for the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday.
Continuous' commanding two-and-three-quarter-length on the Town Moor in the final British Classic of the season led to connections wanting to roll the dice at Europe's premier middle-distance prize, and it was announced on Wednesday, that he would be the sole Coolmore representative with connections stumping up the €120,000 supplementary fee.
Aidan O'Brien is no stranger to breaking records, but Continuous will have to become the first horse to complete the English St Leger and Arc double in the same season if he is to provide the master of Ballydoyle with his third Longchamp showpiece success.
The Coolmore Classic winner looks set to be joined by German Derby hero Fantastic Moon, with connections also adding him to the Longchamp field this morning.
Sarah Steinberg's contender looked unlikely to take his place in Paris this weekend with the Group 2 Prix Niel winner needing good ground to be seen to best effect. However, a recent dry and warm spell of weather in the Parisian region will likely see ground be just on the easy side of good, prompting connections to put their Japan Cup and Breeders' Cup aims on hold and supplement their son of Sea The Moon for Sunday's mile and a quarter prize.
Paddy Power spokesman Paul Binfield said: "We didn't add Fantastic Moon to the betting yesterday as we didn't feel the comment was anywhere near as strong as those for Continuous being supplemented, but now they have actually both been added the former has been inserted at 9-1, while we've trimmed Continuous into 6-1 (from 7)."
