Eldar Eldarov is expected to miss Champions Day at Ascot and will not be seen again until next season.
The Roger Varian-trained St Leger winner added the Group 1 Irish St Leger to his record in September and confirmed his superiority over 1m6f. Always travelling strongly, the four-year-old hit the front with two furlongs to run and pulled clear to win by three-and-a-half-lengths ahead of Kyprios.
"He's finished for the season, we're not planning to run him at Ascot," said KHK Racing's manager, Chris Wall.
"You must never say never, of course, but that isn't the plan at the moment.
"We think his trip is a mile and six [furlongs] and whilst he stays two miles, we think he's a better horse at a mile and six – the problem with that is that there isn't a huge programme at that distance.
"Having established that, we thought we'd put him away for next season and then plan a campaign around those sorts of races. He will probably have to run over two miles but I also wouldn't rule out the possibility of a run over a mile and a half in suitable conditions."
With that in mind, the Group 2 Yorkshire Cup, run in May, appears a likely starting point for Eldar Eldarov although he would carry a Group 1 penalty.
