Big Evs is working well ahead of a trip Stateside for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint on 3 November.

An easy three-length winner of the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot, the Mick Appleby-trained Big Evs followed up with a hard-fought victory in the Group 3 Molecombe Stakes at Glorious Goodwood where he encountered soft ground for the first time.

Remaining over five furlongs, connections threw the dice and pitched the juvenile against older rivals in the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes where he failed to get involved behind Live In The Dream.

The son of Blue Point bounced back to winning ways with an emphatic success in the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster against his own age group and will head to the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint to finish off the season.

"He's in good form, we've just freshened him up a bit and he seems in good order," said trainer Mick Appleby.

"Hopefully he stays that way until he goes, he flies out on October 26.

"He's got to have 48 hours in quarantine then he'll be able to go out on track two or three times before the race.

"We're going to take him for a racecourse gallop so we can run him around a bend, obviously he's never raced around a bend before, but I don't think it'll be an issue.

"He's got to do a bit of stalls work with a bell but I think we're going to do that when he's out there so he can get used to the stalls there.

"He's doing very well and hopefully it's all systems go."
