Ralph Beckett’s Bluestocking will be back next year in search of an elusive victory, after the filly failed to get her head in front at Listed or Group level this season.

It could be understood if connections were frustrated following the filly's three-year-old campaign, where she has placed five times at Listed and Group level without getting her head in front. The daughter of Camelot was only a head behind subsequent Group 1 winner Warm Heart in the Listed Fillies' Trial Stakes at Newbury in May and was beaten a neck at Listed level again in September.

Unfortunately, it was the same losing margin in Saturday's Group 1 British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes as Bluestocking produced an excellent second to Poptronic.

"She ran another cracker, she's having a break for the winter but she'll be back next year," said Barry Mahon, racing manager for Juddmonte.

"The owners had said before Saturday that they would like to keep her in training.

"Rossa [Ryan] gave her a lovely ride on Saturday, I thought the winner would have come back to her a little more but in fairness to her, she kept going."

Juddmonte are also the owners of Time Lock, trained by Harry and Roger Charlton, who finished a disappointing seventh in the same contest.

"The ground was too testing for her," added Mahon. "William [Buick] said he knew after a furlong she wasn't in love with the ground, it was just too soft."
