Love Envoi could be set a big task on her seasonal reappearance and take on Constitution Hill in Newcastle’s Grade 1 Fighting Fifth Hurdle.
The talented mare, trained by Harry Fry, is no stranger to top-level success, having landed the Grade 2 Dawn Run Mares Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham in March 2022. She returned to the Festival twelve months later and finished a good second behind Honeysuckle in the Grade 1 David Nicholson Mares Hurdle. Although the seven-year-old will face a tough test against unbeaten hurdler Constitution Hill, she has won both of her reappearance runs and tends to go well fresh.
"Harry's very happy with her, the plan was always to look at the Fighting Fifth," said Noel Fehily, representing Noel Fehily Racing Syndicates.
"She's not guaranteed to go there, depending on how she's training up to the time of the race, but if Harry's happy with her she'll go.
"If not she probably won't start under after Christmas because there's not a lot else for her. We will be looking at the Fighting Fifth closely until the last minute and we will see how she's working.
"With the mares' allowance she'd be the next best thing [after Constitution Hill] I suppose, it'd be a lovely place to go and start but she did have a hold up.
"She was late coming into training but if Harry feels she's ready to go then she'll go."
Love Envoi is a general 9/2 shot for the Fighting Fifth on 2 December.
