Sam King returns with two selections on Tuesday…
It's probably fair to say that Tyger Bay's recent form figures look unattractive, but there's no doubt he's handicapped to strike in the finale £30 In Free Bets With BetUK Handicap at Lingfield (3.30) should things fall right.
A wide draw and slow start paid to his chances over course and distance two weeks ago, but he did by far the best of those coming from off the pace and stayed on in eye-catching fashion to grab fifth close home.
Stall eleven makes life difficult once more but if getting away on terms, you'd expect George Wood, who retains the ride, to attempt to be more positive this time around. You only have to go back to last season to find him being competitive off marks in the mid-80s so a current rating of 72 looks particularly interesting for Conrad Allen's seven-year-old.
The likes of Mart and Lihou should help provide a decent pace up front and if able to slot in from that wide draw, Tyger Bay could be the one to capitalise off this much-reduced mark.
WIN – Tyger Bay
Odds – 5/1
We head north to Newcastle for our second wager. Harry Burns has been riding well of late (2-6, 33% - last 14 days) and I'm hoping his valuable 3lb claim will be seen to good effect on Panama City in the BetMGM: It's Showtime Handicap at 7.00.
The Ian McInnes-trained gelding did well to hang on for third under an aggressive Harry Burns ride over course and distance eleven days ago and it's probably a performance that needs upgrading when looking at the sectionals.
A three-time all-weather winner and previous course and distance scorer, the mile at Gosforth Park holds no fears for Panama City, who should have things run to suit this evening.
There looks like a distinct lack of pace up front on paper and we all know how tough horses can be to peg back if getting loose on the speed at Newcastle. Drawn in stall eight, I expect Harry Burns to make a beeline towards the often-favoured stands' side rail and off an unchanged mark of 60, this gelded son of Iffraaj can prove a confident selection to go a few spots better this time around.
WIN – Panama City
Odds – 7/2
