Ballysax Stakes winner Dallas Star may not return for the remainder of the season after picking up an injury in the Epsom Derby.
Whilst the Adrian Murray-trained colt boasted some useful juvenile form, including a third behind Arabian Crown in the Group 3 Zetland Stakes, he started 50/1 for seasonal reappearance in Leopardstown's Ballysax Stakes. The Cloth Of Stars colt relished the step up in distance, making all for a three length success over The Euphrates.
A general 33/1 for the Epsom Derby, Dallas Star was always prominent throughout the contest but faded tamely in the closing three furlongs and finished fourteenth of sixteen runners, forty-four lengths behind City Of Troy.
Trainer Adrian Murray revealed the colt had picked up an injury during the race.
""Dallas Star picked up a bit of an injury unfortunately and I'd say he won't run again now this year," he said.
"I know the ground had gone a bit quick for him, but he's a better horse than that."
