Sam King is back with two selections for you on Tuesday evening…
5.30 Newcastle – Hawaii Five O
Harry Charlton's record of four winners from eleven runners at the Northumbria venue certainly catches the eye and given the market support that Hawaii Five O attracted on his recent nursery debut, there's surely more to come from him.
He may have failed to land the gamble when only fourth at Yarmouth on his nursery bow recently, but he did show distinct promise, travelling strongly towards the head of affairs before fading late on.
A 2lb drop in the weights for that effort looks generous and I suspect Callum Rodriguez, who gets on board for the first time, may opt to ride him more patiently. The drop back to seven furlongs looks like an obvious plus given the way he travelled at Yarmouth and with the majority of his main market rivals offering little when it comes to recent nursery form, Harry Charlton's unexposed son of Kameko, who won the Group 1 Futurity Trophy at this venue in 2019, is a confident selection to get off the mark.
Odds – 15/8
Later on the card, End Zone has fallen to a mark he's too well-handicapped to ignore, especially after catching the eye at this venue last-time-out.
Roger Fell's gelded son of Dark Angel was doing his best work late on when running on strongly to finish fourth over seven furlongs here eleven days ago. There should be plenty of pace on for him to aim at and with the step back up to a mile to suit, this gelded son of Dark Angel surely holds major claims.
He's 0-11 in 2024 but as a result, has come tumbling down the handicap to a mark of 53, which is 9lb lower than when winning over this trip at Ayr last September.
Clifford Lee will likely look to take his time on this habitual hold up performer and should things fall right, he may have too much of a finishing kick for his rivals in the closing stages.
Odds – 3/1
