Arc winner Found has been entered for her first start on dirt in the Breeders Cup Classic at Santa Anita by trainer Aidan O’Brien.
Her unexpected entry raises the possibility of the mare taking on the likes of California Chrome, Arrogate and Frosted in the $6 million race.
The Galileo mare won last year’s Breeders' Cup Turf in her only US start to date and that race was again expected to be her target at Santa Anita."We've decided to put Found in the Breeders' Cup Classic but whether or not she runs hasn't been decided,” O’Brien said.
“She's also in the Breeders' Cup Turf and we'll wait a bit longer before deciding which race she will go for and what other horses we'll be taking to Santa Anita."Found has a 6-11-2 record from 20 starts, including three G1 victories.
This year she has won or finished second in eight of her nine starts, following up her Arc win at Longchamp with a second to French colt Almanzor in the G1 QIPCO Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 15.Among the European-based runners with their eyes on the BC Turf are Mondialiste, who was fourth in the G1 Shadwell Turf Mile after winning the G1 Arlington Million, and Highland Reel, who won the G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot and was second to Found in the Arc.
Other possible starters from overseas include Erupt, winner of the Canadian International at Woodbine on October16, Queen Elizabeth’s Dartmouth, who was second in the Canadian International, and So Mi Dar, the Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber-owned filly whose lone loss in five starts was a third in the G1 Prix de l’Opera in her last start.
