Friday sees the clash between Aussie Asfoora and Big Evs in the Nunthorpe.
This is Asfoora's great chance and he comes into the market on 7/4 while Big Evs is out to 9/2. We should mention that the jockey we know as Aussie Tom is riding Big Evs – surely that is a dereliction of duty here! Never mind his wife is riding Bradsell on 11/2 and may try to get the upper hand over her husband! The Nunthorpe is sponsored by Coolmore who have named the race in honour of their sire Wooton Bassett who has a runner in the Gimcrack. There is a good field of 14 here and we will have Believing 8/1 in our multiples. The track is on fire with lots of records being broken and that should suit Asfoora.
Friday's graded stakes start with the Lonsdale Cup G2 over 3300m with 9 stayers running. Point Lonsdale is up in trip here but shows himself to be a gritty customer and therefore comes in on top on 2/1 for O'Brien-Moore.
Not sure if Willie Mullins still plans to send Vauban to Melbourne but he would need to put in a good run here. William Buick is booked for the ride. One we think could be worth a play is Gregory for the Gosdens with James Doyle riding. He was a good third in the Goodwood Cup and our grand-sire was Gregory.
The Gimcrack is for 2yos over 1200m and has a field of 10 headed by The Strikin Viking with James Doyle riding the Al Jehani runner who is by Inns of Court and they are on 10/3. Camille Pissaro is the Wooton Bassett product whom we referred to above and he is on 4/1 for O'Brien-Moore. Also on that quote is Big Mojo who is trained by Michael Appleby whose stable is in great form. Silvester de Souza rides the son of Mahaather.
We also like the chances of Shadow of Light with Godolphin's Lope de Vega colt having won both his starts and 6/1 attracts – Appleby-Buick.
