Racing and Sports have scanned the stewards’ reports to find the key information punters need to know from Sydney racing on Saturday March 3.

Randwick:

Irish Bet (Race 3): The Inglis Nursery winner was at single figure odds in the Skyline Stakes but raced well below his best when last home of the seven runners, beaten more than six lengths. Rider Brenton Avdulla told stewards that in the straight he had some concern with the action of the colt so did not ride his mount out fully to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer John O'Shea could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance and will report on the progress of Irish Bet in the coming days.

Satin Slipper (Race 4): The Gimcrack Stakes winner was another disappointing two-year-old performer, beaten nearly nine lengths when last in the Sweet Embrace Stakes. Stewards did note she knuckled and shifted out shortly after the start and was steadied late in the race, but the vet could find no issues. Rider Andrew Atkins and co-trainer Peter Snowden both agreed that the filly was not advantaged by being ridden closer to the lead. Satin Slipper was ordered back to the trials before racing again.

Egg Tart (Race 5): The mare was an eye catcher at her resuming run, hitting the line well after a less than clear passage in the straight. Stewards reported Egg Tart was slightly slow away and copped some early interference. At the 300m she was held up and did not find clear running until the 100m. The mare was winding up well late and looks to have returned in better form than what she showed in the spring.

Alizee (Race 7): The filly was a hot favourite in the Surround Stakes but missed the placings. Stewards reported that from a wide barrier she was steadied and shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. Alizee raced keenly in the early stages and was then was making ground in the straight when she was held up near the 200m. The filly kept working home but could only manage sixth.
