Jakkalberry, a Group One winner in Italy, is the latest overseas star purchased by Australian interests in a bid to win the big spring staying races in Melbourne.
Agents in Australia and the UK negotiated the purchase of a 50% share in the six-year-old for Darren Dance of Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock.
Jakkalberry is the winner of the G1 Gran Premio di Milano in Italy and was named Champion Older Horse in that country in 2010.
He is a half-brother to Italian Derby winners Crackerjack King and Awelmarduk by Storming Home, sire of the Victoria Derby and Underwood Stakes winner Lion Tamer.
Jakkalberry is fully qualified for the Melbourne and Caulfield Cups.
He most recently raced in Hong Kong where he was unlucky behind Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden in the HK Vase last December.
