Trainer Peter Bloomfield describes promising galloper Cristal Beauty, who resumes at Gunnedah tomorrow (Saturday), as “a no-nonsense filly.”

“She likes to go out and get the job done,” the Scone-based trainer added. “But she can have her moments, likes to see things go her own way.”

Cristal Beauty resumes in the Btr Enclosures Country Plate (1200m) with 2kg-claiming apprentice Shane Arnold in the saddle.

The daughter of Royal Academy, bought back from a yearling sale after being bred by the current owners including Graham Holley and Phil Gunter, hasn’t raced for 159-days since winning a double at Muswellbrook on May 28 and June 25.

Cristal Beauty also scored on debut and has racked up three wins from six starts.

According to Bloomfield, the three-year-old is “a lot stronger filly now then her first start.”

Returning from her recent break, Cristal Beauty has strengthened further.

“She’s not a robust type, lightly-framed. A fine sort of filly but she’s stronger now since the spell,” Bloomfield said. “She’s the type of filly that doesn’t put on a lot of weight and she kept herself fit while out.”

Cristal Beauty has been in work for over two months and while she hasn’t officially trialled, Bloomfield revealed she had a jump out early this week.

“She came through it (jump out) well,” he confirmed. “I’ve been happy with her, what she’s done. I now whatever she does tomorrow she’ll improve on.

“She’s not drawn well (barrier 9) which is a bit of a worry. Hopefully she can sit just off the speed. We’ll get over tomorrow and see what happens. She’s a nice filly than can only get better.”
