Hawkesbury apprentice Claire Nutman “hit” the ton when she rode her 100th winner on the Beaumont track at Newcastle on Saturday.
At her only ride at the meeting, Nutman scored on Juju Man for Hawkesbury trainer Bernie Kelly.
A four-year-old, Juju Man overpowered Oakfield Tycoon, who had made the running and gave a ton of cheek.Juju Man unleashed a brilliant burst to win by three and a half lengths being eased down.
Nutman is in her fourth season of riding and has done a terrific job to rack up 100 winners. She landed 27 winners in 2012-13, 32 in 2013-14, 30 the following season and has won 11 races so far this current season.
Nutman has also notched 183 placings from her 861 rides, and her mounts have earned nearly $2m in prizemoney. In clinching her 100th win she also provided Juju Man’s trainer Bernie Kelly with an important breakthrough.
Juju Man was Kelly’s first winner this season from only nine starters and his first in 18 months. His previous success was with Butterfly Sky at Cessnock on July 21, 2014.
And there are no prizes for guessing who partnered Butterfly Sky that day as it was Nutman.Juju Man was having only his 12th start and had been placed on four occasions.
