The sprint trip is trainer Tony McEvoy’s biggest query for smart filly Don’t Doubt Mamma in the 2016 Redelva Stakes.
Don’t Doubt Mamma takes on a smart field of three-year-old sprinters in the 2016 Redelva Stakes, run at Morphetville this Saturday April 23.
Don’t Doubt Mamma is a dual stakes winner including when resuming in the Group 3 2016 The Vanity (1400m) at Flemington this autumn. She since ran second to Badawiya in the 2016 Kewney Stakes (1400m) on March 12 but drops back to 1100 metres in the 2016 Redelva Stakes.
“I hadn’t planned to run her in this race,” McEvoy told Michael Felgate on RSN Racing and Sport.“We took her home to freshen her up to run her in the Robert Sangster Stakes but she’s done so well, she’s really thrived being back in Angaston and putting weight on.
“I was just a bit concerned she may have been doing too well on me so I’ve decided to give her a race on Saturday.”McEvoy knows the trip is short of Don’t Doubt Mamma’s best but is hopeful class can carry her a long way in the 2016 Redelva Stakes.
“If anything is against her it will be the distance,” McEvoy said.“She’ll get back but she’ll be charging home late.”
