Arbeitsam went to the front as expected and then travelled along at a reasonable tempo (first 1400m 1:29.57) on the Good 4 track before picking up the pace nearing the 600m. He got a break on turning for home and then kept fighting back gamely, holding on to score well by a half-length, sprinting home in smart time (last 600m 34.80). Maurus raced in sixth place, on the rails, improved between runners at the home turn and kept running on well in the sprint home for second in a promising second up effort. Almost Court was second to the home turn, challenged at the 200m and kept fighting on nicely for third.
