Devonport-based trainer Barry Campbell will take four horses to Sunday’s meeting on his home track and has a realistic chance of saddling up four winners.

The veteran trainer currently sits fourth on the Tasmanian premiership table with 24 winners from just 101 starters. His strike rate of 23.80% is bettered only by Adam Trinder who is winning at 26.80%.

Campbell's best winning chance looks to be last start winner Dramazing who blitzed her rivals in a similar race two weeks ago.

"She's a mare with a bit of a future, she's only lightly raced and she never got out of second gear the other day," Campbell said.

Dramazing will again be ridden by fly-in jockey Anthony Darmanin who after jumping off the mare following her last start effort, confidently told Campbell she would keep winning.

The 4YO has raced only six times but has won twice and been placed on two other occasions, two weeks ago she scored untouched by 2.25 lengths and rises just 1.5kg in weight following that win which was over the same distance as Sunday's event.

Another lightly raced galloper from the Campbell yard is Julius who returns to the track in a BM68 over 1150m.

"He's trialled up really well, he ran second to Turk Warrior and then second to Need To Be Unique in really quick time.

"He's a really nice horse, he's got a great record first-up and he's unbeaten at Devonport. He's drawn a bad gate but he will go forward and should end up outside the leader or just off the pace."

Julius is a 5YO who has raced only six times, but the trainer explained he's had some hoof issues.

"He's got really bad feet and we're just about to take him for a swim now actually. He got a little sick at the end of his last prep and he's been out for a long time but he's been in work for three or four months so he shouldn't need the run," Campbell said laughingly.

Earlier in the day Campbell will be represented by two last start placegetters, Silent Love who he rates an each-way chance and Zeva Royale, a newcomer to the stable who had her first start for Campbell a fortnight ago.

"She should get a gun run from a good gate and wouldn't have to improve a lot," the trainer said.

The meeting may well be dominated by north west based trainers, Leanne Gaffney will saddle up Alpine Aviator who looks to be one of the best bets on the card in the 1150m maiden, while Adam Trinder can continue his successful season with Silver Persuasion in the 1350m maiden.
