Daughter of former star 2YO filly heads to Adelaide for debut
The Freedman family did not have the privilege of training Earthquake, but they are looking forward to getting a chance with one of her progeny.
Father/son duo Anthony and Sam Freedman will pull the covers off Trembles in the $120,000 Listed Without Fear Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday.
The two-year-old daughter of Too Darn Hot will become the fifth to race from the daughter of Exceed And Excel, who won the 2014 Blue Diamond and beat home all bar Mossfun in the Golden Slipper for Peter Snowden.
Trembles' debut comes after five trials or jumpouts spread out since last September and Sam Freedman felt a soft 600m jumpout win at Mornington on March 27 had her ready to head to the races.
"She is a nice filly, she's really only had one trial this prep thus far but she's got good speed," he said.
"She's certainly got some of her mum's (Earthquake) speed, I'd say.
"She looks pretty professional and she's trialled-up nicely.
"It's a big ask, going to a Stakes race first-up with a bit of travel. (It's) a bit to handle, but hopefully she measures up."
Earthquake's four to race are all winners, including Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude runner-up Sumatra (Lonhro), 12-time winner and $676,000-earner Namazu (Medaglia d'Oro) and the promising Shaken (I Am Invincible), who has won three of her five starts.
Trembles is favourite for the Without Fear Stakes, in which she has drawn barrier five in the field of eight with Jason Holder to ride.
She is one of two favourites at Morphettville the Freedmans trains for Sheikh Mohammed with Austmarr engaged in the $120,000 Redelva Stakes (1100m) for three-year-olds.
The daughter of Exosphere is chasing a winning hat-trick, and back-to-back Listed wins in Adelaide after victory in the Manihi Classic on March 11, and Freedman said this is a good test for her with Group 2 winner Stretan Angel also hard in the market.
"She's taking good steps forward this prep (and) keeps improving," he said.
"I think she's got to go up another notch again, Stretan Angel is a nice filly, but she's up to this.
"So, we'll see where she fits in terms of some bigger races down the track."
