Winning Trainer: Ciaron Maher (stable representative Jack Turnbull speaking)
Moving between training bases: "We just flipped him over to Cranbourne. He was training really well at Ballarat, but just got a little bit complacent. He had two runs there and we brought him down, gave him that jump out. Just a different environment, different way of training, and you see here today, it's a great example, the ability for us to do that."
Well placed today: "Trip's perfect. Class is well within his grasp. He's a well-handicapped stayer. He's got good progressive talent, and this is the right time of year for him to hopefully put a few together, increase that handicap, and then we could hopefully tackle something better in the next season."
Winning Jockey: Jamie Mott
On the win: "It was only moderately run. We were always going to get back so I would have preferred a bit of a stronger tempo. But once Stacky sort of pushed into the clear on the favourite, the race kind of changed complexion and the speed went in, and he tracked up great. Looked like the 2400 (metres) was going to be really suitable for him, he was clearly the strongest and it was a nice win."
"They do it with so many of them, so I wouldn't be surprised. It's nice to get a winner for Ciaron and his team, especially on a horse that's going to be a strong stayer."
