Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for September 07.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Moonee Valley, Morphettville and Belmont.
RANDWICK: RACE 4 @ 1:35 PM
STRATHTAY (6) progressive staying type with three wins from his last five runs. Deserves his shot in this company after rounding them up effortlessly over this track and trip with the 60kg in BM78 grade on August 24. Will prove hard to hold out. Group 2 winner CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD (1) had no luck at his first Australian start when covering plenty of ground from the wide gate when a plugging seventh over 1800m here on August 10. Expected to race much closer today over his preferred trip. Group 3 placegetter CANBERRA LEGEND (5) is fitter after two runs back and expecting more now after tiring late when fifth over 2000m here on August 24. Each way prospects. REDSTONE WELL (4) promising staying type who was scratched at the barrier fourth-up, after finishing third to Golden Path over 1800m four weeks ago. Kept ticking over with a recent 1207m trial and can take a hand in the finish.
SELECTIONS: Strathtay to win.

MOONEE VALLEY: RACE 8 @ 4:15 PM
PERICLES (2) clearly on top. His return in the Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes was very good without the best of luck, blocked in the straight before finding the line strongly to grab third, beaten under a length. That has already produced the Memsie winner and 1500m at these weights looks ideal. ATTRITION (1) resumes in Adelaide and hit the line well for second. He's a top horse on his day as a Group 1 winner and will be fitter. MUNHAMEK (4) is on the quick turnaround and will be hitting the line strongly. BUFFALO RIVER (5) can give a sight if he gets things in favour.
SELECTIONS: Pericles to win.
MORPHETTVILLE PARKS: RACE 6 @ 3:47 PM
SIXTEEN REASONS (7) raced wide and without cover throughout here last start when finishing midfield. Meets the winner (The Guava) with a considerable weight swing this time with the 2kg claimer engaged and is drawn much kinder. Has her share of ability and is perfectly placed to make a return to the winner's circle. THE GUAVA (3) had it all go right for him here last start and was good enough to capitalise. Has another nice set-up and is sure to be in this for a very long way. JACKS ON ICE (1) found the 1000m to sharp for him when returning behind the in-form Lingani here three weeks ago. Much better placed over this distance, where he's a seven-time winner. 3kg claimer stays on to aid the big weight. Winning hope. Smaller cases can also be made for EXALTED DAME (5) and CULLEN SKINK (8) on best form.
SELECTIONS: Sixteen Reasons to win.
BELMONT PARK: RACE 8 @ 6:25 PM
The feature of the day and TRIPLE JAY (5) looks the one to beat again. He came from nowhere to win last start as favourite and drops back to his preferred track and trip today. He ticks plenty of boxes with Pike riding from an inside alley and he drops in weight. He can extend his winning streak. SALOON BAR (7) was terrible in the Idyllic Prince last start but didn't handle the heavy going, sitting out the back throughout. He gets in at the bottom of the weights today and a firmer surface is expected with Steve Parnham reuniting with the gelding. Drawn well and can flip his form right around. VAST ART (8) is ready to peak now following a strong run in the Idyllic Prince last time out, beaten 2.9L. CJP rides now and he gets a nice pull in the weights. Watch for him flashing late. MAGNIFICENT ANDY (1) is the class horse of the field and boasts a strong fresh record. GINGER BAKER (2) was good from the front last start and usually improves with a run under the belt. SELECTIONS: Triple Jay can win again.
