New Perth Racing chief executive officer Stephen Wicks commenced his new role this week.
A Master of Business Administration (Executive) from the University of New South Wales, Mr Wicks is 46 years old and has had extensive experience within the hospitality and tourism sectors.
Wicks has over fifteen year's senior management experience in a diverse range of disciplines with his most recent role being General Manager - WA for Corporate Travel Management - one of Australia's leading travel management compaies employing 400 staff within Australasia.
Wicks previously held a number of senior roles with the Marriott Hotel Group and recently was responsible for the refurbishment of Citigate Perth and development of the greenfield site for the Sebel Mandurah Hotel in his capacity as Regional General Manager WA for the Mirvac Group.
Wicks is looking forward to his involvement within the racing industry and believes his development and hospitality backgrounds will complement Perth Racing's exciting future plans.
“The Belmont re-development is certainly a project I'm looking forward to overseeing. Its benefits will be far
reaching, not only to our loyal members and patrons but it will also provide a world class racing facility and events complex” Wicks said.“Ascot racecourse will also be the beneficiary of the project with funds also allocated to upgrading some existing facilities.
“The Festival of Perth Racing is certainly an exciting month on our racing calendar. I'll be looking forward to
working closely with the team here but also forging closer ties with our members of parliament at both local and state levels in ensuring the long term viability of Racing in W.A. for our industry participants.”
