Race by race Pinjarra preview - Saturday, 28th December 2024

3 minute read

Pinjarra hosts WA’s Metropolitan meeting this weekend with the $100,000 Mandurah Cup the feature event.

The racing looks competitive right across the eight-race card with good weather and a good track expected.

You can watch all the analysis and on-track action from Pinjarra live and free on 7Plus and Racing WA

Race 1: SBS COMPUTERS HANDICAP (1300m)

AT YOUR SERVICE (2) has hit her straps lately and won her maiden out of her class 2 starts back before finishing third here just over 2 weeks ago. She is drawn to receive the run of the race early on and will be hard to hold out. PINGERS (5) has been holding her own in a couple of starts since winning her maiden fresh up at Albany. The step up from 1200m to 1300m will suit her. Each way. SUNSHINE TAFE (3) has been racing consistently and was fourth in a tougher field off a wide gate at Ascot last week. Stick with her. LIPSTICK JUNGLE (4) followed up a big win on debut at Narrogin with a close-up fourth at Bunbury nearly 3 weeks ago. She has scope and can go on with the job.

Race 2: BATTERIES N MORE MAIDEN (1300m)

LUNCH IN PARIS (7) ran on strongly from midfield to finish a close runner-up when resuming here nearly 4 weeks ago over this trip. She strips fitter and is good enough to go one better. SHE'S PERFECTION (6) held her own in some hot fields as a 3-year-old last season and is resuming from a spell and won the most recent of 2 trials. She will be hitting the line strongly late. Each way value. VIVA MARCONI (4) did not fire when racing out of her class fresh up at Belmont after some good trial form before that. He is better placed in this and can improve quickly. Include in all combinations. LONG WAIT (5) is resuming from a spell over a trip that will be short of her best. She would have strengthened up since her last run and can figure in the finish here. Watch closely.

Race 3: BRIDGETOWN JIGSAW GALLERY HANDICAP (1200m)

OUR ROCKY BAY (5) will find this easier than his recent assignments and has the blinkers off for the first time. He won his only start on this track and is nicely placed to take this out at what should be some each-way value. BLEECKER STREET (3) had a tough trip last time out at Belmont and still managed to finish third. What made the performance even better was he pulled up mildly lame as well. That issue will be well behind him and he will be hard to hold out in this. ANOTHER STRIKE (2) ran on late along the fence when resuming from a spell at Ascot 3 weeks ago over 1000m, finishing sixth. He drops in grade and with an extra furlong to travel, he can have a say in the finish. IMPOSSIBLE DREAM (8) is heading the right way with her form and will be peaking third up. Each way value.

Race 4: COUNTRY COMFORT HANDICAP (2000m)

WAR MATTERS (3) has been racing well in tougher fields at Ascot this season and is trying 2000m for the first time which will suit him down to the ground. He has a good draw and should go close to taking this out. VANCOUVER STORM (5) will be peaking third up for a new trainer and was unsuited by leading at Albany last time out. He will be ridden more quietly his time and can have a say in the finish. ABISSI (4) is building his form as his fitness improves and ran on late to finish runner-up at Albany just over 2 weeks ago. There is no reason why he can't go one better. BLAISZEN CAZAH (8) is a durable veteran who has yet to fire on this track in 5 starts. He can improve those stats here.

Race 5: STABLE AFFAIRS HANDICAP (1200m)

EN PLEIN AIR (5) peaked on her run fresh up and then lifted late to score by a nose here last time out. She stays in the same class and the extra 1.5kg to carry should not be enough to stop her from winning again. AIN'TSOBAD (10) has returned from a spell in great shape, winning both of her starts this season, including her last run here over 1300. She carries half-a-kilo less this time and the hat-trick beckons. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE (2) hit the line strongly late at Albany last start when finishing third as favourite. He is drawn to receive the run of the race and should go close to winning this. Follow your money. BUTTERFLY HOUSE (3) has not run a bad race for some time and can be relied upon for another honest effort.

Race 6: WIGNALLS WINES HANDICAP (1400m)

COSMIC SPIRIT (10) finished third as favourite here on debut before taking a softer option and winning at Albany last time out, repaying those punters that had made her favourite again. She has plenty of scope and can take the next step immediately. ZEEZEA (4) was held up and taken wide at a vital stage last time out on this track just over 2 weeks ago, finishing sixth and only a length from the winner. She drops in class and can take this out. MILLY'S CLEVER TOO (1) has been racing well since winning her maiden at Northam last month. She is in a good space and another honest effort is on the cards. SHEEZA SHEILA (3) will strip fitter after finishing fifth fresh up as favourite at Bunbury 9 days ago over 1100m. The key here is the extra 300m. Stick with her and follow your money.

Race 7: BARRAGUP SELF STORAGE MANDURAH CUP (1400m)

JANNY (7) has hit top gear this prep and made it 2 wins in a row when coming home with a rush to score at Ascot 3 weeks ago. She secures a big swing in her draw this time and with 2kg less to carry, she is the one to beat again. EXCELTRAIN (1) dropped in grade at Albany last time out and bolted home to lead all the way, scoring by well over 4 lengths. His confidence is up and he will be the one to peg back again. PAPAVERO PRINCESS (10) will be chasing down a hat-trick of wins after storming home to score at Ascot last time out a fortnight ago. There is no reason why he can't get the job done. SONOFTHEBOSS (2) has been thereabouts all season and is still holding his form despite being in work for some time. He won't lack fitness and has top 3 claims again.

Race 8: TUCKEYS HARDWARE HANDICAP (1400m)

I'M CRAFTY (1) followed up his maiden victory at Bunbury with another bold effort for second at Ascot 10 days ago. He cops a wide gate this time but is in a good space and is expected to continue to work his way through the grades this season. THE KING'S UNCLE (3) has been mixing his form a touch in this campaign and was not far from the winner in third place last time out. He is having his first start on the course and should be right in the finish again if his mind is on the job. CASH FLOW (5) was beaten by a wide draw here last time out and starts from a slightly better draw this time. He has the tongue tie on for the first time and can bounce straight back into the money here. SIDE SHOW (7) is better than his last start suggests and he is worth another chance. Include in all multiples.
