Agent after a short freshen up looks a solid betting proposition during an open and competitive eight race program at Scone.

The Team Hawkes-trained sprinter contests the Benchmark 75 Kia Ora Sprint (1100m) after a seven week freshen up.

Agent has an excellent record resuming having not finished out of the money during four prior first up outings.

The latest was at Canterbury two back when just narrowly denied victory behind Chiaramonte.

Chiaramonte went on to win the Listed Darby Munro Stakes (1200m) and form lines out of Agent’s second run this preparation also auger well for his chances at Scone on Saturday.

The Pins gelding was again only narrowly denied success behind Eminent Domain who also recorded back to back metropolitan successes.

Fourth in the same race was Arctic Flight who last start almost stole the Darley Crown.

It appears unlikely Agent will be taking on any subsequent stakes level performers in this contest and at each way odds, possesses a lot of appeal.

Expect him to roll forward from the wide barrier and should prove hard to catch in the straight.

Another each way hopeful looks to be Ashokan in the lucrative Inglis 3YO Guineas (1400m).

The colt has produced a pair of encouraging efforts since arriving at the Gai Waterhouse stable with the latest a narrow third in Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m).

There was a lot to like about Ashokan’s latest run as he was brave right to the line behind Limes.

This race looks to possess less depth and unlike many in the event rising to this sort of company, Ashokan has performed well at Group/Stakes level repeatedly.

He is one of just three runners in the 20 horse field to have tasted Group success and that class should see him prominent at the finish.

Mamwaazel is currently favourite for the 2YO Woodlands Stakes (1100m) which appears a wager fraught with danger in a race that on paper appears fairly wide open.

The Chris Waller youngster was a debut winner at Randwick in what turned out to be a very weak form race.

She carries the equal topweight on Saturday in a race containing some useful looking juveniles and some of them actually possess higher master Timeform figures than the Exceed And Excel filly.

The Play: Race 2 – Agent @ $7

Each Way: Race 7 – Ashokan @ $7.50

The Lay: Race 3 – Mamwaazel @ $3
