If the same Rebel Dane turns up in this Saturday’s Bobbie Lewis as the one we saw second up in the autumn the race is as good as over.
There we saw Rebel Dane] give star colt Pierro everything to do at level weights in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes, the figures on the day outstanding.
He was subsequently tested over further (at the top level) and failed to run up to that form again but he was back with a good win at Warwick Farm last time and now looks beautifully placed in the Bobbie Lewis.
None of his rivals here have the scope of him and the straight track will suit a horse that does take time to gather himself up and let rip.
If and when he does let rip, $3.00 is going to look very attractive…
Earlier on the card Thought Worthy steps out looking to put his first up run behind him and early prices around the $15.00 mark look more than fair about him doing just that.
He settled well back off a slow tempo first up at the Valley and never really got into things from back there.
The run is easily overlooked and we can often see runners from this yard put their first up run well behind them when they step out next.
Up to 2000m on a bigger track should suit and on international form he is extremely well placed.
A one-off lay is tough to find on a card with such depth but one early favourite that makes little appeal is the Thousand Guineas winner Commanding Jewel.
She was okay at his first run back and is going to be better suited up to 1400m now but there are a few knocks on her form from last spring and this race is mighty competitive.
It’s a race to be playing at the low-percentage end of the market with a handful around the $12-$15 mark making at least as much appeal as Commanding Jewel and hence, we are taking her on!!
