Early mail and best exotic plays for Rosehill on May 31 from Chris Scholtz.
ROSEHILL SATURDAY
RACE 4 (5) SIR BERUS: Hard to miss his first-up effort at Rosehill three weeks ago when he found the line strongly from last to be beaten less than a length after a chequered run that led to stewards questioning rider over his tactics. He’s won second up in the past and the blinkers going back on this gelding is a big lead from an astute stable that regularly gets the right result when gear changes are applied.
RACE 7 (13) POMPIDOU: Scone-trained mare has been in terrific form this preparation with two wins and three placings from last five starts in good form races where the figures stack up well for this class. She wiIl carry only 51kg – 3kg under the limit – after the claim for boom apprentice Taylor Marshall and makes a lot of appeal at her early odds as she is drawn to enjoy the right run to test many of her higher weighted rivals.
RACE 8 (12) QUEENSTOWN: Talented mare who measured up in strong Group company last spring over a range of distances. She has won first-up over this trip and was most unlucky not to score at the start of her last campaign after missing the start. She is again set to race boldly fresh after two recent trials and some sparkling track gallops in the last 10 days with the booking of James McDonald a good pointer to the stable confidence.
