It's off to Ballarat for Cup Day as the spring carnival winds into the summer.
The feature is a wide open affair, perhaps lacking for horses on an upward curve but it's a competitive betting race and the early market does offer a couple of fair opportunities.
Count Of Limonade is currently $11.00 and that looks too big given his current form, and the fact that he is one of just two horses in the race with a strike-rate about 30 percent has to be seen as a positive as well.
The other is the early market elect Spinderbella but she has something to find on the Count if he turns up in the form that saw him take down Prince Of Penzance at Moe two back.
Thermal Current hasn't be a great strike-rate horse but he is a good talent and he finds the easiest race he has contested since winning his maiden 6 starts back.
He was just fair at Flemington last time but his first up effort in the Caulfield Sprint makes for good reading here, as does the pick of his form from his three-year-old season.
It's probably D-Day for him, time to prove that the smart figures he has returned in the past are still within his range, and at the current price its worth betting that he can.
