Last week didn’t work out so well but hopefully with a Group 3 race on the card, we have the signs of Spring in the air.
And fittingly we are going to the Spring Stakes for one bet with Riziz back to the track.
He thrives on racing, either from short let ups or longer breaks. He’s had a month off since the Monash Stakes run at Caulfield but comes home to race.
Interestingly he used EXACTLY the same program last year when beaten about the same margin in the Monash, then had a month off then won this race by three lengths.
For an on-pacer this draw is perfect as he can jump well and lead or simply sit outside the leader. Morphettville has been run a bit ‘down the outside’ of late so he can get to the right part of the track before the rest get there.
Slow tracks are his best so maybe some improvement in the surface would be of benefit.
Earlier we see Try Four run again after his impressive effort last start in a race not much different bar for a little bit up in grade.
He’s still on the improve, loves wet going and is bred to run a mile and a half so would love it to be a test. That may require Hioctdane to put the pressure on.
Darren Weir just goes so well with his Adelaide runners and happy to take a short quote as long as it’s not too short.
SAY FROM SA
BET OF THE DAY (1): Race 1 #2 Try Four @ $1.60
BET OF THE DAY (2): Race 7 #2 Riziz @ $4.60
Might be an idea to just all up them around the 13/2 mark.
