Say From SA - March 5

3 minute read

They say there are no good things in racing (besides Black Caviar of course) but the next best thing may be on show at Morphettville.

We are not far from the Adelaide Cup and the Lord Reims Stakes is the main final lead up race.

You just have to be thinking Darren Weir’s Signoff is ripe to win the G3 race over 2600m.

Given he was a great fourth in the 2014 Melbourne Cup, distance is no query. There have been issues this time in but his Night Cup run at Moonee Valley was a real positive, albeit he looked one run short.

He’ll be fitter now and is so well off only 3kg over the limit under the set weights and penalties scale.

He gets a good run early and should be too strong late.

A former French horse could easily be a big factor in the final event.

Eyrton for Tony McEvoy won on debut over there and then first run in Australia was well supported at Caulfield. He was found to be lame and so was spelled immediately.

Since then he has shown enough speed in his trial to sit behind the leaders. Under a hold he took the front and coasted away.

The 1200m might be that tad too short however in the big field there will be pace on and if he’s midfield or better in running, could easily run over the top.
