Hoping the Adelaide weather and track improves a bit for this week’s program at Morphettville.
You generally feel confident when taking a Darren Weir horse and he brings the right class to Adelaide most times.
In Backbone, he arrives in good form after a good staying on effort at Moonee Valley.
He just looked like a horse who was desperate for ground and he hasn’t run over this journey for a long while. Incidentally, his last victory was at 2500m.
The conditions are fine for him, the claim helps and he’s meeting a lot of hurdling types.
For consistency, we’ll follow another Darren Weir chance on the card with Ma Jones heading west.
After a fast finishing third at Moonee Valley, she is well suited after some tough runs at the mile and also in these conditions.
Hoping she may drift out a bit but she does look hard to toss.
With Weir chasing more records for winners in a season, he’s likely to have sent horses well suited to winning these standard of events.
