A progressive stayer is expected to chalk up the hat-trick at Rosehill on Saturday before being lured to Brisbane for the Winter Carnival.
The horse in question is Roman Son who contests a 2000m Benchmark 85 Handicap midway through the program.
Roman Son has been superb this prep, resuming well over an unsuitable trip at Warwick Farm before getting out to a middle distance and posting wins at Rosehill and Hawkesbury.
While there was temptation to send him to Brisbane, connections have given the four-year-old a more suitable assignment at Rosehill in which he should be chalking up a third straight success.
Roman Son has gone from strength to strength this prep and like Hawkesbury where he won by 2.3 lengths, is expected to deliver as favourite on Saturday.
The son of Roman Emperor should be peaking fourth up and is a strong looking individual capable of shouldering the 60.5kg impost.
While only slightly better than even money at present, Roman Son is a clear cut best bet on the program.
Earlier in the card, Smartedge contests the Poitrel Hall Of Fame Benchmark 77 3YO Handicap (1400m).
He profiles as an excellent each way bet after taking on the older horses and recording a third behind the talented Cradle Mountain over 1200m at Randwick last start.
The son of Smart Missile settled back and after being held up for a run on straightening, was forced back to the inside fence where he found the line well.
The Team Snowden-trained runner will be fitter for the outing and gets a key booking of James McDonald.
At current odds of $7.50, Smartedge is well worth a look on his home track.
