Newton Prince won his third-straight race in claiming the Listed Aquanita Stakes at Ascot.
Newton Prince settled sixth, one off the rails, in the eight-horse field, following a moderate early pace (first 1000m 1:16.21).
He was well back as the tempo increased and was giving the leader about ten lengths passing the 600m point. He moved up nicely to third on straightening, took the lead at the 200m and battled on well to win by half a length.
The favourite Balmont Girl ($3.50) was a distant second-last coming to the turn. She switched wide rounding the home turn, got to third at the 200m and kept fighting on for a sound second, beaten half a length.
Vital Edition was well back in fifth place, one off the rails without cover. He was under riding to improve coming to the turn but dropped back on straightening.
However, he picked up in the straight and ran on again, late along the rails, to just grab third.
