Listed Breakfast Creek Hotel Stakes, June 21 - Eagle Farm

3 minute read

Fixation prevailed in a messy race to win the two-year-old feature at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Fixation caused an upset, coming from last with a strong run between horses in the straight to score his first win from three starts and first stakes win.

The race was run at a good early tempo set by the leading pair, Bayrock and Storming Pleasure, who strung the field out over plenty of ground. The winner settled down over 12 lengths from the leaders, travelling well within himself. Still last turning for home, he hit the front at the 100m and then held on to score a good win.

Homehill came from seventh, one off the fence with a trail. He cornered five and six wide and took a little while to balance up after turning for home. He finished on strongly to finish a good second, while Jumbo Prince, who came from second last and widest on the home turn, finished strongly on the outside to grab third on the line.
