Famous Seamus wins 2015 Kevin Heffernan Stakes Group 3 $150,000 at Sandown-Hillside (VIC), 1300m.

Famous Seamus was much more handily placed from his good barrier (3) here, settling nicely outside the leader (Java) and they then travelled along at a moderate early tempo. He moved up nearing the coming to the home turn, went to the front at the 200m and then fought back well in the sprint home (last 600m 33.34) for a good win.

Generalife raced in sixth place, between runners, eased back and across heels to get into clear running at the 200m and came with a good late run (in the sprint home) for an unlucky second.

Gracious Prospect was fourth, one out and one back, moved up three wide, nearing the home turn, challenged at the 300m and kept fighting on well for a sound third.

Favourite Under The Louvre was ridden back in the field as usual and was eighth, between runners approaching the home turn. He got into the clear at the 400m, took while to wind-up in the sprint home, before finishing well late for (2.2 lengths) fourth, also being disadvantaged by the lack of early pace.
