Tasmanian apprentice Raquel Clark, who is on a three month loan, brought up her first SA win when she guided Dances On Stars to a win in the 1400 metre opening event at Oakbank on Saturday.

Prepared by Murray Bridge trainer Grant Young, Dances On Stars came from a rearward position with a strong run over the last few hundred metres.

Trainer John Macmillan tasted his first victory of the Oakbank Carnival when his charge Arkham Knight took out the 1400 metre second race.

Having the servicers of Paul Gatt, Arkham Knight came from a near last position with a strong run in the straight to win.

After winning his first race over jumps at Warrnambool recently Renew made it two wins in succession when he took out the 2900 metre hurdle.

Coming out of the Darren Weir stable and guided to victory by John Allen Renew was well placed and will have his next run in a hurdle at Warrnambool in the first week in May.

Hoop Paul Gatt brought up his second win for the day when he guided Vintage Grove to a win in the 1400 metre fourth race.

Being under the care of Richard Jolly Vintage Gove was well back in the early stages of the event but came wide on the home turn to sweep down the outside to win.

Returning to racing after a three month spell Municipality won his fourth race from twelve stars when he took out the 1050 metre fifth race.

Being under the care of Tony McEvoy and guided to victory by stable rider Damien Thornton Municipality came from last with a strong run on the outside to take the event.

Racegoers were treated to one of the best finishes seen in a Von Doussa Steeplechase in many years when Zed Em was the narrow victor in the 3250 metre sixth event.

Trained by Patrick Payne and having the services of Richard Cully Zed Em led all the way and will have his next start in the 4950 metre Great Eastern Steeplechase on Monday.

Mentor Tony McEvoy scored his second winner for the day when Kourkam took out the 2150 metre Oakbank Cup.

Piloted to his seventh win and having the services of McEvoy’s apprentice Sairyn Fawke Kourkam was well placed.

The grand sprinting campaigner Riziz still has many more races in him after he took out the listed Oakbank Stakes (Hills Railway Stakes) which was run over 1100 metres.

Mentored at Morphettville by veteran trainer Ken Sweeney and guided to victory by Todd Pannell Riziz came from well back with a late run over the concluding stages to win.

Racing first up after a five month lay-off the Jake Toeroek ridden Hazy Lane came from a midfield position with a strong run in the straight to win.
