The AFL say they are comfortable with the way Carlton have managed Harry McKay since he copped a knock to the head against North Melbourne almost two weeks ago.

Carlton have escaped further punishment for their management of star forward Harry McKay after his head knock in round 19.

McKay looked dazed after a clash of heads with North Melbourne's Eddie Ford in a marking contest at Marvel Stadium.

The spearhead stayed on the field and kicked a goal before going off to be assessed.

Last week, the AFL found Carlton breached concussion protocols in their handling of McKay, despite accepting the Blues' explanation club doctors were delayed in treating McKay because they were tied up with other injured players.

Carlton escaped with an official reprimand for the "short delay" in removing McKay from the field.

But when McKay became a late withdrawal from last week's 14-point loss to Port Adelaide due to illness, the AFL decided to investigate the issue further.

"The AFL has finalised its enquiries with Carlton in relation to the management of Harry McKay in the lead up to last Friday night's match and thereafter," an AFL spokesperson said.

"The AFL is comfortable with the medical management of McKay and his availability for selection this weekend will be determined by Carlton."

Last week, Brisbane were fined $40,000, of which $10,000 is suspended, for a concussion breach involving star defender Harris Andrews.

Adelaide were cleared of any wrongdoing in their handling of Jordan Dawson's concussion.
