CARLTON v GEELONG
Friday 21 June @ MCG
It's not quite the 1995 Grand Final but equally there will be a rather large crowd at the MCG for what could easily shape the Top 4.
Both are off the bye and so have no reasons for it as an excuse either.
The Blues were good without being great in the Essendon game. Overall the match didn't reach large heights.
A real positive there was that Walsh and Cripps were reasonably well held and they still got the job done. That holds them in good stead come September.
What will Geelong be able to bring to hold them this week? For a fair degree of the Swans game they were right in it – from the quick start to the late comeback.
And yet they still lost by 5 goals. Carlton will try to get them in different ways but can still garner the same result.
Match | Carlton | Geelong | Ground |
Last time they met | 15.15 [105] | 18.10[118] | MCG |
Last 10 matches | 3 wins | 7 wins
Notes | Not many times in recent history both sides scored 15+ goals last outing
Geelong looked home in Rd 7 only for Carlton to rattle late |
This will be a result that impacts greatly. Carlton can go a fair way to Top 4 accomplishment by holding one of their rivals at bay.
Geelong can contain the big boys forward but will they score enough themselves? Jeremy Cameron has been very up and down and is due given his record against this opposition. Influencing the game up the field will excite Carlton more than around goal.
The Cats are big odds with some Dangerfield inspiration but perhaps Carlton can be the one to hold on here.
Match Selection: Carlton by 13 points
Suggested Bets: Jeremy Cameron 3+ goals @ $2.20 @ bet365
