Brisbane defender Harris Andrews is just about perfect, on and off the field, says his coach Chris Fagan.

If Chris Fagan had a son, he'd want it to be Harris Andrews.

The Brisbane coach, a father of two daughters, says co-captain Andrews is just about perfect.

"Harris Andrews ... I would like him, if I had a son," Fagan said after Andrews' 200th AFL match on Saturday, a 79-point away belting of Port Adelaide.

"He's one of the most dedicated people I have ever come across, he's one of the most selfless people I've ever come across in footy.

"He's always giving to others at the club, that's why he and Lachie (Neale) are co-captains."

Andrews made his AFL debut in 2015 and has been a key pillar in Fagan's rebuild of the Lions from strugglers to premiership contenders.

"Baptism of fire really, back when Brisbane were really struggling and he's playing fullback on some of the best players in the competition," Fagan said.

"Having to defend 70 entries just about every week, it's a miracle that he came through that, came out the other side to be the great player that he is."

Fagan believed the reliable defender could "easily" have four, not two, All Australian jumpers.

"He's a bloke with a growth mindset, he's always trying to find ways to get better, put the team first," he said.

"If you go to training and there's people down watching, Harris will always go over and talk to them afterwards.

"I mean, he's perfect in many ways - he can get a bit grumpy when things aren't going well out on the ground, so he's not totally perfect.

"I feel privileged to have coached him, to be honest.

"When I look back on my coaching days overall, I think he's definitely one of the best players I've ever coached - and person as well."
