Racing and Sports will provide analysis of games in the 2024 AFL Season.

We'll endeavour to run through the form, incorporate appropriate stats and also supply a betting prediction which won't always just be who will win.

COLLINGWOOD v GEELONG

Friday 12 July @ MCG

There are so many games this weekend where the swings and roundabouts of the table will be strongly felt.

First up on Friday we could either see Collingwood move a game outside the 8 or Geelong fall out of it themselves.

The Pies are certainly being impacted by the injury crisis and it worsened with Brody Mihocek. With troops running down, the last thing they needed was a game where they were not near their best.

Big name mids were held well enough and it was normal defenders who were basically kicking goals. That can't suffice.

In Geelong they've met a side getting some mojo back. To be honest they never gave Hawthorn a hope at home. In front from the off, the margin was apt.

The De Koning switch is paying immediate dividends. In urgency, you can find pockets of gold.

Match Collingwood Geelong Ground
Last time they met 16.13 [109] 15.11 [101] MCG
Last 10 matches 4 wins 6 wins
Notes 3 of last 8 games were in Finals
Both sides have kicked 100+ points in the last 2 outings

Collingwood is definitely a big hope as they may have one last season hurrah in them should the injury toll take full effect. But strange that they were initial favs.

Geelong still seems value in a close one.

Match Selection: Geelong by 9 points

Suggested Bets: Geelong 1-20 @ $3.90 @ bet365
